Distributive Law

The distributive law is used to expand out an expression with a common factor.

Whatever the coefficient is then multiplied to whatever is inside the brackets.

In this case, “k” is multiplied to “a” then to “b”, which gives you ka + kb.

In the second case, “a” is multiplied to “b” then to “c”, which gives you ab + ac.
