If you look at the picture to the right, 1 piece out of 2 pieces is the same (or equal) to 2 pieces out of 4 and 4 pieces out of 8. So 1/2 = 2/4 = 4/8.

The only difference is that when you split the pieces, each individual piece becomes smaller, but the overall size of the pizza DOESN’T CHANGE.

Two 1/3 pieces are the same as four 1/6 pieces, so 2/3 is equivalent to 4/6.
