When trying to find a fraction of a whole number it is relatively easy. All you have to do is multiply the numerator with the whole number (quantity) then divide by the denominator.

When you see the word “of”, this usually means to multiply.

So in this case, 1/4 x 16, you would multiply the numerator (1) by the quantity (16), 1 x 16 = 16 then divide by the denominator (4). 16 / 4 = 4. So 1/4 of 16 is 4.
