Numbers don’t necessarily have to always be whole. Some times you can have part whole numbers, which is why decimal numbers exist.

Whole number can be split into tenths and hundredths.
We can use number lines to determine their place value.
Notice how decimal numbers are sequential. 0.1 is before 0.2, which is before 0.3.
